The project operates both as a school of digital fabrication as well as an armature, which connects the elevated Sunset Boulevard with the physically stratified Echo Park neighborhood below. Responding to these two unique criteria, an interlaced network was formed to create pockets of collision and an ultimate dialogue between students, faculty, visitors, as well as the public using the school to traverse the site. This school questions whether architecture can be used to simultaneously educate students in a new field and serve as an avenue for the public, while creating a cohesive interface between both. Ultimately this school was not designed to capitalize on the seemingly irregular overlap of different people. It was also used to redirect urban movement to activate a separated neighborhood, thus spurring broader communal growth.
